Early Humans musicians Hart Williams and Ryan Vaniman have created a time machine with their music video Sexy Lexi, taking the listener back to the 90’s and early 2000’s to a time of feel good rock and punk with a hook that makes you nod along and a music video that is absolutely fun to watch. While the lyrics could be viewed that they are singing about a lady named Lexi, I feel it may be more the name of the beautiful guitar that is unboxed at the end. Almost like Wayne from Wayne’s World and his Excalibur, the 64’ Fender Stratocaster, Lexi, the Fender Stratocaster, signifies a new chapter. Featuring comical pantomime and simple storytelling, the video is fun and the song is just the same. Tell me how you feel about it and check out the rest of the album.
And now a little about the band themselves. The two main members are Nashville, Tennessee natives Hart Williams and Ryan Vaniman. The two have been collaborating together since 2009 and have since seen the fall of several different bands. While many would have given up, but these two soldiered on instead and paved the way for Early Humans. Early Humans is now the pair of Williams and Vaniman at the base, supplemented by others who help them actualize their creative vision. The duo uses a more unique approach in their recording process as they record everything in the studio that they built in their basement they call the “Sanctuary”. This provides them with a familiar and approachable setting as well as allows them to avoid using any outside producers or engineers with their work and giving them creative control. This has also caught the eye of several local musicians as well and is open to them recording there as well. It’s a great space, and their videos called “Sanctuary Sessions” can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXqWxB_q1wKZ_XKLUUcedeA.
